BARBARA E. COHEN |
| Barbara E. Cohen has 20 years of writing, editorial
and indexing experience, and is recognized as an authority on permission-based email marketing in central Indiana. Barbara writes, edits and produces email newsletters for companies and professional organizations. She also writes regularly for the Indianapolis Star’s Custom Publications Department and has penned articles recently for Indy Men’s Magazine, NUVO Newsweekly, and BizVoice, the magazine of the Indiana Chamber of Commerce, among other publications. She has also authored several technical reports, including Women Count in Indiana, a county-by-county examination of women’s health issues published by the Office of Women’s Health at the Indiana State Department of Health. She is an active member of many professional organizations, including several geared toward women in media and technology, business communications, public relations, business marketing and technical writing. After her first career as a professional archaeologist, Barbara worked as a freelance editor and indexer of scholarly and trade reference books for nearly two decades. Following a two-year hiatus from self-employment, she formed Irvington Writers Studio in December 2002. The company specializes in print and Web corporate communications and writing for a wide range of print and electronic publications. Barbara is currently serving as a professional mentor for Indy Women Connect. Her prior mentoring experiences include working with other writers, editors and indexers in long-term apprenticeships, short-term mentorships and cooperative writing groups. Her experience also includes teaching periodically at IUPUI and many years of public speaking. |
